Dr. Cremer is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist. Dr. Cremer’s specific research interests include cervical cancer screening and treatment specifically in low-resource settings. She is currently on the World Health Organization Technical Review Committee to define cervical cancer treatment guidelines. She also conducts research in contraception and abortion.
Dr. Cremer is also the President and Founder of Basic Health International (BHI), a non-profit organization whose mission is to eradicate cervical cancer in Latin America. She has received multiple grants and awards for public health projects both nationally and internationally, including First Prize for Original Research from the Federation of Latin American Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1999, and Woman of the Year from the Western Center for Law and Poverty in 2005. In January, Dr. Cremer and BHI received the 2010 Doctor's Against Cervical Cancer Award from the Women Against Cervical Cancer Network. BHI was also awarded the IPHA Community Health Award in December 2010.
