Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC welcomes volunteers. Volunteers can help in many ways, from organizing mailings to working at the gift shop to assisting patients and families in many of our centers. Together, we can enhance the patient experience and quality of life at Magee. Some of the hospital volunteer work areas where members volunteer include:
- Labor and Delivery
- Breast Care Center
- Inpatient Oncology
- Med Surg Unit
- Lactation Department
Free parking off site and meal tickets are provided to volunteers on the day of their service. Volunteers complete an application, participate in an interview, attend orientation, and undergo a TB test before beginning their volunteer assignment.
Junior Hospital Volunteer Work Program
The Junior Volunteer Program at Magee is a summer program for youths that provides a variety of hospital volunteer work opportunities. Junior volunteers are between 14 and 17 years of age as of June 15 and commit to 20 hours of volunteer time over the summer. The program provides young people with exposure to careers in the health care field. All junior volunteers complete an application and parental permission form, participate in an interview, attend orientation, and undergo a TB test.
