Reaching Out to the Community
Along with conducting innovative women’s and infants’ health research, Magee-Womens Research Institute wants to have a positive impact on the health of the local community.
Our Community Outreach Programs
The Dan Berger Cord Blood Program
This program supports the collection and storage of umbilical cord blood samples. Expectant parents have three options — donate to a public bank or to medical research with no fees, or store in a private cord blood bank for a fee. No other cord blood program in the country is quite like it.
Pregnant? Check out your cord blood options by watching this video starring cord blood manager, Mary Wiegel.

Women's Cancer Survivorship Workshops
For millions of women today, a strong sense of hope and support lays the foundation for cancer survival. Having a positive outlook helps many women diagnosed with breast or gynecologic cancers overcome these diseases.
So far, Magee has hosted two survivorship workshops with more on the way.
Check out our Calendar of Events for more information.
Order your $20 DVD of the workshop today by calling Denise Wickline at 412-641-8911.
